The Early Years
Azoff was born in Danville, Illinois on December 12, 1947. Although his parents were not well known, he was raised in a Jewish household and went to Danville High School. He quickly learned that he was proficient in selling local bands when he was in high school. He continued acting in this manner when he was at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Career
Azoff was the first manager hired by REO Speedwagon, a band from Champaign. Dan Fogelberg was then under his management. In 1972 he moved to Los Angeles together with Fogelberg and secured employment with Geffen-Roberts Management. After still employed with the company he began working for the Eagles. The union lasted for over four decades.
After more than a decade in the industry, he rose to the position of chairman of MCA Music Entertainment Group in Los Angeles. He held this post for six years, during which time the label was struggling.
After leaving MCA, he joined the Warner Music Group and founded Giant Records there.
Azoff oversaw the record label throughout the 1990s until he decided to focus on managing musicians again.
He managed musicians well into the 2000s, and was named manager of the year twice by two trade publications. He started the management firm called Front Line Management Group.
When Ticketmaster, a company that sells tickets, announced in October 2008 that it was buying Front Line, Azoff was named its CEO. On February 19, 2011, he was appointed chairman of Live Nation. In 2012, he was named #1 on Billboard Magazine’s Power 100 list of the most influential people in the music industry.
In 2013, Azoff founded Global Music Rights, an association for performance rights.
Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Metallica, John Lennon, George Harrison and Bruno Mars were all signed to the business. That same year he debuted Azoff MSG Entertainment, a joint venture with The Madison Square Garden Company.
In addition to his other roles, he was the chairman, CEO, and consultant of MSG. The organization managed to live event at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Nicki Minaj accuses Azoff of launching a smear campaign against her upcoming tour, which lands Azoff in hot water. However, it appears that the tour was able to come to an understanding because Azoff became Minaj’s manager quickly. She has work with global music rights in most of her songwriting credits.
Azoff was recognized on January 20th by being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a result of receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award, which is given to a music business professional who specializes in promoting musicians and their music.
Azoff co-produced hits like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Urban Cowboy,” “Jack Frost,” “Above the Rim” and “The Inkwell.”

Personal Life
Azoff’s wife is Shelli Azoff. Together, the couple has four children – Jeffry, Allison, Cameron and Jaye. They rarely speak openly about their personal lives. One of the oldest still open eateries in Los Angeles, The Apple Pan, owned by the couple. Soon they acquired Nate n Al’s, another eatery with investors from Los Angeles. The restaurant is one of the most established ones in Los Angeles because it was established in 1945.
